Draft Coastal Management Plan for Public Comment

The Department of Environment & Heritage Protection has released the new Draft Coastal Management Plan for public comment.

The objective of the Coastal Management Plan is to provide policy guidance for managers of coastal land and waters in relation to their natural resource management activities and management of recreational use. 

Key management issues include:


  • maintaining coastal landforms and physical coastal processes
  • nature conservation
  • maintaining access to coastal resources for indigenous cultural activities
  • public access and use of coastal resources
  • management planning
  • knowledge sharing and community engagement.


The Minister for Environment and Heritage Protection released the Draft Coastal Management Plan on Friday 20 September 2013. You are invited to make a submission about the Draft Coastal Management Plan until 5pm, Monday 21 October 2013.
