Cane Video Competition Launched

May 25, 2015

CANEGROWERS and the Australian Government Reef Programme launched the CaneTube competition earlier this week.  The short video competition aims to promote the, usually unsung, work undertaken by growers to protect the Great Barrier Reef.

Students and community members are invited to submit a short video that entertains and educates about the positive farming practices for a chance to win cash prizes.  The competition is supported by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, SmartCane BMP and the Australian Government Department of Environment and Heritage Protection.

The competition closes in June with the winner announced in July 2015.

There are some great prizes up for you or your institution.  If you are entering as a part of a school group, the prize will be awarded towards your school's educational program.  You can enter into any appropriate category and NOT be a part of a school group e.g. you and your friends in grade 6 may enter the Primary Schools division as an independent group and not as part of your school.

  • Primary schools division (students up to grade 7): $4,400
  • Secondary schools division (students from grade 7-12): $4,400
  • Tertiary schools division (University students): $4,400
  • Independent division $5,500.
