Local Community Group Shines at Reef, Range & Red Dust Conference

Sep 07, 2015

RRRD-logo-Colour-Black-2015-01.jpegIt’s not unusual for our community groups to shine at a state or even national level.  This year is no exception, with several of our partners presenting papers at the Reef, Range & Red Dust Conference being held in Caloundra from 31 August to 2 September and four regional winners in the prestigious Queensland Landcare and Australian Government’s Reef Programme Awards.

But one group that has been shining, quietly in the background, is Bundaberg Community Admin Support or BCAS.  BCAS is a Work for the Dole initiative delivered by NEATO Employment Services and funded by the Australian Government.

BCAS is a small group of dedicated volunteers that provide a free range of administration services to local business and community organisations via their ‘virtual office.’  The office – which is physically located in Bundaberg provides participants with a real-life working environment in a relaxed and supportive surrounding.  Here, under the supervision of a highly experienced administrator, they bring together new skills and previous experience gaining the confidence to re-enter the workforce while supporting the local community.

So what was BCAS’s role in the conference?  Well, aside from taking the minutes from the committee’s teleconferences, they compiled and designed the conference booklet – seamlessly pulling together the program, exhibitors, abstracts, advertisements, images and sponsors.  This has enabled the conference committee to reduce the cost of the conference enabling over 200 participants to register.

So if you need some help, why not give them a call?

Services include, but are not limited to document design and presentation, promotional material sampling, meeting minutes, marketing pack packing, customer surveys, data entry, mail out assistance, market research, monthly financial accounts, website updates, printing, laminating and business cards.
