Flood Debris Removal
This program focuses on removing in-stream woody debris where it is altering the hydrology of the stream. Domestic debris (such as chemical drums, fuel containers, plastics) where it is impacting productivity or contaminating environmental health, water quality and/ or aquatic wildlife is also a core part of the program.
Flood Recovery Project
Karen Jones Story
Karen Jones is a local Bundaberg lychee grower. The flooding following Ex-Tropical Cyclone Oswald devestated her 20 Ha property in North Bundaberg and seven months after the event little had been accomplished in terms of returning her farm to productivity.
An innovative and unique arrangement between BMRG's Flood Recovery team and local job service providers allowed a group of local work for the dole participants to get her farm back on track.
