Saving Soil in the Burnett Mary

Saving soil 1

The Saving Soil project aims to improve water quality in the Burnett Mary by targeting gully erosion and building the capacity of land managers to carry out effective remediation on their own properties.

Project work will focus on four demonstration sites within the inland Burnett catchment. Field days will be conducted at these sites, discussing historical erosive processes, design of structures appropriate to each site and the practicalities of construction and maintenance. Instructional videos and case studies will document what was achieved at the demonstration sites and provide landholders more confidence and knowledge when looking to remediate their own eroded gullies. A soil conservation advisory service will also be available for landholders in the region to provide tailored advice for individual sites.

This project is supported by BMRG, through funding from the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program.
