Introducing David Sternberg

Aquatic ecologist Dr David Sternberg has joined the BMRG team as a Research Scientist.

David was formerly with the Queensland Department of Regional Development, Manufacturing and Water in Bundaberg, Mackay and Townsville.

He completed his PhD at the Australian Rivers Institute, Griffith University, on the ecology and conservation of Australian freshwater fish.

His research interests include species conservation, functional ecology and the impacts of invasive species.

David lives at River Heads and enjoys fishing and super-simple recipes as hobbies.

At BMRG he’ll be working in the research team on projects that promote biodiversity conservation and fire and flood recovery.

“As a research scientist I’m excited that we have incredible biodiversity in the Burnett Mary region and some amazing, unique species,” he said.

“It’s fantastic to be working at the coal face of threatened species conservation.”
