Bio:

David is a freshwater ecologist providing technical leadership towards the conservation and management of the region’s freshwater and terrestrial ecosystems. His research interests include threatened species ecology, biogeography and invasive species management. David has contributed substantially to the understanding of freshwater fish ecology in Australia and has undertaken research across the Murray-Darling Basin, South-East Queensland, the Wet Tropics, Cape York Peninsula and the Lake Eyre Basin. David has a strong academic publishing record and highly developed research, diagnostic and statistical capabilities which demonstrate his commitment to technical excellence and research-based outcomes.

David’s Ph D studies considered the distribution of species functional characteristics in the Australian landscape and the role of environmental variation in determining what species are found where. His field skills include boat and backpack electrofishing, freshwater turtle surveys, water quality testing, and riparian vegetation assessments. David also has a wide range skills in both wet and dry laboratory environments.

Outside of work, David enjoys fishing, golf, and gardening.
