Landholders Gain Invaluable Insights at GRASS Workshop

Last week, Burnett Mary Regional Group (BMRG) project officers organised a Grazing Resilience and Sustainable Solutions (GRASS) Workshop in Bororen. The workshop outlined the GRASS program and covered a range of topics including the Reef Protection Regulations, methods to assess ground cover and land condition, and funding opportunities.  The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF) presented on forage budget concepts and services such as the Farm Business Resilience Plans.

Soil health was a key focus, with BMRG’s Rachel Cavallo delivering a hands-on soil demonstration. Rachel taught landholders how to quickly identify the health of their soils in seven steps.

The participants’ feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing that they gained valuable knowledge from the experience. BMRG plans to host similar workshops in the future to continue supporting landholders.

The GRASS program is funded through the Queensland Government’s Queensland Reef Water Quality Program and delivered by the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, and BMRG.
