Sustainable Agricultural Facilitator
The Sustainable Agriculture Facilitator (SAF) serves as the primary contact and connection point for stakeholders seeking support in sustainable practice change.
This role is part of a national network of SAFs, each based within one of the 54 regional Natural Resource Management (NRM) organisations across Australia. These NRMs, all non-profit organisations, are recognised by the Commonwealth as the peak bodies for natural resource management in their respective regions. They represent Australia's diverse landscapes and are dedicated to the health and success of each area.
The SAF's role involves partnering with landholders, community groups, and agricultural industries to promote the adoption of climate-smart agricultural practices. The Climate Smart Agriculture program aims to achieve outcomes in climate change resilience, carbon and biodiversity opportunities, and sustainable growth.
Key deliverables of the SAF include supporting farmers in adopting best practices in natural resource management, climate resilience, and biodiversity conservation. They also provide clear and unbiased information about environmental and carbon markets, market access, and on-farm emissions reduction. Additionally, SAFs share government resources, policies, and programs, including tools, funding opportunities, and relevant training events.
For those in the Burnett Mary region, you can contact your regional SAF, Amy-Lee Provost, at (07) 4181 2999 or via email at amylee.provost@bmrg.org.au.
If you need to find the SAF for your region, you can use the Sustainable Agriculture Facilitators - Find Your SAF tool.
The Sustainable Agriculture Facilitators are supported by the Australian Government with funding through the Natural Heritage Trust’s Climate-Smart Agriculture Program.
