Empowering Adaptive Graziers in the Burnett Mary: A New Era of Sustainable Agriculture
Empowering Adaptive Graziers in the Burnett Mary is now well underway with 20 businesses selected to join the program. There was an overwhelming number of graziers that applied to join the program, which includes business operations support by BMRG and education courses valued up to $25,000 per business, delivered by RCS Australia and Tarwyn Park Training. Congratulations to the 20 businesses on joining the program - we are looking forward to working closely with you all over the next 18 months.
BMRG has also developed opportunities and pathways for our region's next generation. It was fantastic to attract interest for the Youth Ambassador Program associated with Empowering Adaptive Graziers in the Burnett Mary. "Stand out" applications were submitted from next-generation graziers involved in family farming operations across the region. We are really looking forward to working with our five youth ambassadors and mentoring them, with the support of our graziers and industry professionals throughout the program. Our Youth Ambassadors will be increasing their knowledge and skill set by attending the education courses, field days, and peer-to-peer focus groups. BMRG is looking forward to assisting them on their journey in leading the next generation to adopt sustainable and regenerative agriculture practices.
All businesses that completed an expression of interest (EOI) for the EAG program and were not selected as one of the initial 20 will be contacted soon for an exciting second-round opportunity. For graziers interested who have not applied, register your interest with Virginia on virginia.kelleher@bmrg.org.au
The Empowering Adaptive Graziers project delivered by Burnett Mary Regional Group is part of the $6 million Grazing Practice Change Program funded through the Queensland Government’s Queensland Reef Water Quality Program.
