Volunteers Shine in Woongarra Turtle Conservation
BMRG was proud to take part in the wrap-up event for the 2024-2025 Woongarra Coastline Turtle Monitoring Program on 8 March, celebrating another successful season of dedicated conservation efforts.
This annual program depends on the dedication of volunteers who generously contribute their time to monitoring and protecting nesting marine turtles along the Woongarra coastline. Their efforts are essential to the survival of these species, helping to safeguard turtle populations and their habitats for future generations.
As part of the event, BMRG had the privilege of presenting certificates of appreciation to acknowledge the hard work and commitment of all volunteers. From tracking nesting activity to protecting hatchlings and raising awareness in the community, their contributions are invaluable to marine turtle conservation.

Volunteers are the heart of this program, making a tangible impact on the protection of marine turtles and strengthening conservation efforts across the region. Their dedication ensures that these remarkable creatures continue to thrive along our coastline, and their passion for conservation is truly inspiring.
BMRG remains committed to supporting Woongarra coastline volunteers and recognising the significant role they play in safeguarding turtle populations. Through the Nest to Ocean Turtle Protection Program, funded by the Australian Government’s Reef Trust and the Queensland Government’s Queensland Reef Water Quality Program, BMRG will continue working alongside volunteers to protect marine turtles and their critical habitats.
A heartfelt thank you to all who participated this season—your contributions are making a real difference, and we look forward to another year of conservation success!
