Industry Recovery and Resilience Officers
Jointly funded through Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA), the Industry Recovery and Resilience Officer program was designed to provide long-term support following the significant floods in 2021-22.
Queensland was impacted by multiple significant rainfall and flooding events over the 2021 2022 severe weather season (activated events), including:
Central, Southern and Western Queensland Rainfall and Flooding event (10 November - 3 December 2021);
Ex-Tropical Cyclone Seth (29 December 2021 - 10 January 2022);
South-East Queensland Rainfall and Flooding event (22 February - 5 April 2022); and
Southern Queensland Flooding event (6 May - 20 May 2022).
The Industry Recovery and Resilience Officer (IRRO) Program was delivered by Burnett Mary Regional Group (BMRG) and Queensland Farmers' Federation (QFF) to primary producers across 23 Local Government Areas in Queensland that were impacted by the 2021-2022 flooding events in southern, central, southeast and western Queensland.
Through the program, 199 primary producers were supported by BMRG and QFF, to develop Flood Management Plans to build flood recovery capacity, resilience and identify strategies to mitigate farm business risk.
In the following video BMRG and QFF's Industry Recovery and Resilience Officers speak to one another about their experiences and learnings from the delivery of the program. The video also captures conversations between the IRROs and some of the primary producers they assisted throughout the program. The primary producers speak about the firsthand impacts flooding had on their operations and reflect on their experiences developing a flood management plan and the importance of building resilience to future events
The Industry Recovery and Resilience Officer Program was jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
